The Nottinghamshire Centre has a HeartSine Samaritan PAD 360P (AED) Fully Automatic Defibrillator that is part of our Rally Kit and will be available on every centre rally. The HeartSine Samaritan PAD 360P Fully Automatic Defibrillator is a complete AED solution giving users of all abilities the confidence to act in the event of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). It is a nominated device of the British Heart Foundation. The unit is fitted with adult pads but we also have a set of paediatric pads (stored in a pocket) for use on children or infants up to 8 years old or under 25kg/55lb in weight.
IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY
Call 999 and inform the call handler that there is a defibrillator available and follow the instructions given by the emergency services call handler.
Responsibility - Rally marshals are responsible for storing the defibrillator and ensuring the equipment is readily available to ralliers at all times.
Storage - The defibrillator must be stored in a dry, safe place at all times such as a caravan/motorhome or in an awning. (If a social event has been arranged, the defibrillator can be taken into the venue for easy access). If taken home between rallies, the defibrillator must be kept indoors and must never be stored in outbuildings such as a shed or garage as extreme temperature changes could result in damage to the unit.
Location - The rally marshal is required to display the green AED sign in their window and the green AED flag outside the outfit where the Defibrillator is located. This can be moved to either a co-marshal or trusted member’s outfit in the event that the marshals need to leave the site.
Broadsheet - Notification of the defibrillator being available on rallies should be visible on each broadsheet so that members are aware.
Who Can Use It? - Anyone on the rally field can access and use the defibrillator in the event of an emergency. The marshal is only responsible for making the unit available, not for its operation.
Is Training Required? - No training is required to use the defibrillator as it is fully automatic and gives verbal, step by step instructions throughout. A video link showing how to use the equipment is available below. Please follow instructions given by the emergency services call handler.
The defibrillator is part of the rally kit and must be passed on with the rest of the rally kit.
In the event of the defibrillator, or any other equipment associated with it having been used and/or damaged, please ensure the equipment officer is notified at the earliest opportunity and do not pass the kit on for another rally as checks will be required and new parts may need to be ordered.
